Every veteran deserves a safe place to call home.

Help House Vets is working to expand access to affordable shared housing for veterans who may otherwise fall through the cracks of traditional housing systems.

The veterans we serve may be experiencing homelessness or housing instability, living on a fixed income, recovering from substance use, navigating mental or behavioral health challenges, living with disabilities or accessibility needs, transitioning from incarceration, on probation or parole, or simply needing an affordable and supportive place to rebuild. Oftentimes veterans experience some of these hardships much later in life even.

HOW WE’RE SOLVING IT
Our approach combines housing with connection.

We are developing shared housing opportunities while building relationships with veteran organizations, VA-connected resources, nonprofits, case managers, social workers, recovery organizations, reentry programs, healthcare professionals, community leaders, donors, and other organizations serving veterans.

The goal isn’t simply filling a bed.

It is creating a housing pathway that gives veterans stability while connecting them with resources that may help them move forward.

Depending on the veteran and available resources, that may include connections to VA services and benefits, healthcare, recovery support, behavioral health resources, employment resources, transportation resources, financial education, community support, and longer-term housing opportunities.

MORE THAN HOUSING

We know housing instability rarely exists by itself.

That is why Help House Vets is being built around collaboration. We want referral partners and community organizations involved before, during, and after housing whenever possible.

This is not something one organization can solve alone.

It takes housing providers, veteran advocates, nonprofits, businesses, government agencies, healthcare organizations, donors, volunteers, and community leaders working together.
